Inkspell Reading Response

In the book Inkspell, (Sequel of Inkheart), Meggie is living in Elinor's house with her father Mo, Darius the  reader who was captured by Capricorn, and Meggie's mother who was reunited with her family. Then one day Meggie decides to enter the Inkworld where Meggie's mom was trapped for 10 years with Farid, whom she likes. Soon after she entered the Inkworld, her father Mo got a surprise visit by Capricorn's man Basta, who didn't perish with Capricorn and his men when Meggie destroyed them in the first book. Basta had a new character Orpheus read Mo and Theresa(Meggie's mom) into the Inkworld, and shot Mo there.

Through the story, (which I am halfway through), I have to grown to like Meggie's mother, Theresa, or Reas for short. She is such a unique character, unlike any other in this book. When Darius read out Theresa, she became mute. Not a lot of fantasy books usually have mute characters. It also gave a really good twist in the story when the reader finds out that the woman Dustfinger has been crushing on when he used to hang around Capricorn's village is actually Mo's wife and Meggie's mother. I was shocked and was so excited to see how Dustfinger would react when he found out about this. I felt heartbroken when Dustfinger was sad about this and didn't want to give her up. I feel like it is such bad luck for Dustfinger because he doesn't live life for someone when his whole world was changed in a flip of a second. When he finally founds this one woman he actually has feelings for, it happened to someone's wife, and even more consequently  the person who brought him to this new world's wife. I felt so bad for him! I'm glad that Dustfinger did the right thing and told Resa the truth when she asked Dustfinger to describe Mo. I'm pretty sure that was very hard for him to do. This is why Dustfinger is my favorite character, next to Resa. This idea in the plot was amazing! It had my eyes glued to the page.
One last thing that struck to me as weird but unique about Resa is the fact that even though she was trapped in this dark world with evil for 10 years, she isn't afraid to talk about it to her daughter and even drew pictures of the fairies and creatures from the Inkworld. Mo on the other hand, hates talking about this Inkworld which I get because his wife disappeared into it for 10 years. Who would want to relive that? Resa is really a brave being and I give thumbs up to the A\author Cornelia Funke for creating such a cool and unique character! I can't wait to finish this book. (:
