I read Destini's blog post "Pretties by Scott westerfeld". This is the sequel of Uglies, I have found out. I read Uglies, but never read Pretties. Reading this blog post gave me a good idea of what to expect in the sequel. I remmember in the ending of the first book Tally decided to risk her life and become a Prettie so the doctors could see if the pill to remove the chip that is inserted during surgery works. When I read Destini's summary, I was shocked. I sort of figured that Tally would have changed, but it's not like she lost all of her memory from before. I can't believe that now all Tally wants to do is party. Did she forget all that emotion coming from her when she fell in love with David, volunteered to be a possibly fatal test subject?
I agree with Destini. Instead of becoming Prettie like she was normally supposed to be when she turned 16, Tally went on all these crazy adventures and found out about the real reason why people had the Prettie surgery at 16. However, Tally still did grow up around people who said everyday, " I wish I could be Prettie already!" "I want to live in Prettietown already!". That is always going to make an impression on Tally. That is her culture and her tradition. So even though Tally volunteered to be a Prettie, I think inside she still secretly wanted to become one, and when she did, that got ahead of her.
I think Destini's blog post was really good because it talked about two different main topics. The hurt that Shay (Tally's former best friend) feels from Tally, and if Tally could handle being a Prettie. I only touched on the one that seemed more controversial ^_^.
